PatBo launches a collection inspired by the ocean
The brand PatBo announced the launch of its Spring/Summer collection, entitled “Acqua”. With more than 300 pieces, divided between casual, resort, and party, the launch is inspired by the sea and brings references from the past, such as the 1980s’ lurex and tie-dye – which had a revival during the pandemic.
The brand, which is part of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Exports and Investments Promotion Brazilian Agency) – used water as a starting point for its new designs.
“Water is related to the emergence of life, origin, purification, and strength,” comments the brand creator and stylist, Patricia Bonaldi. One of the highlights of the collection is an embroidery inspired by the bottom of the sea. “Our collection contains visual assets that make references to the beach and vintage beauty, elements of the bottom of the sea such as shells, seahorses, and mermaids,” explains Patricia.
Lurex is also the protagonist of the collection and appears in overalls, jackets, bodysuits, and pants. The brand also adapted another fashion trend: tie-dye. But, in contrast to the “DIY” form where it has been coming up during quarantine, here the dyeing style gains an air of sophistication and strong tones, appearing in pieces such as long dresses.
Fashion with soul
In addition to the launch, which will be worked on in the coming months, PatBo also released a capsule collection, called “Alma” (“Soul”). There are four sweatshirts with the words “Amor”, “Respira”, “Calma” and “Coragem” embroidered by hand.
Inspired by the current moment, the pieces, according to Bonaldi, have the purpose of bringing positivity to people.
The project also includes a partnership with Amigos do Bem, an institution that supports families in northeastern Brazil. With that, part of the income raised from the collection will be used to take treated water to the northeastern hinterland.
