Created in 2000, BrazilFoundation is a non-governmental organization that supports initiatives, creative approaches and solutions for challenges faced by the different communities that live in the country. Its goal is to generate and invest resources in social projects that transform social realities in Brazil; this is all possible through donations, agreements and partnerships. The NGO is also known for holding the BrazilFoundation Gala to raise funds for the various social projects it supports. The event takes place in New York, Miami and Sao Paulo and always honors outstanding celebrities.

The first Gala in Brazil took place in May 2014 at Fundacao Maria Luisa e Oscar Americano, in Sao Paulo, and honored Gilberto Gil, Fundacao Victor Civita and Dagmar Garroux of Casa do Zezinho. The latest Gala was held in New York in September 2014 and paid homage to Analia Timbo of Associacao Vidanca, Brigitte Louchez of Barraca da Amizade, and Maria de Lourdes Bras of Casa de Santa Ana.

The II BrazilFoundation Gala Sao Paulo, which will be held at Sala Sao Paulo on May 4 of this year will honor Brazilian designer Pedro Lourenco with the Global Brazilian Award. The son of Gloria Coelho and Reinaldo Lourenco, who are also fashion designers, Pedro has worked with fashion since he was 12, when he showed his first collection at Sao Paulo Fashion Week. A member of Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil), Pedro is one of the main stars of Brazilian fashion abroad, having partnered with Nike and MAC, two major companies in the fashion market.
