“The connection between companies and manufacturers in various segments of the textile industry, as well as the exchange of ideas and trends during the specialized conferences and, also, with journalists from other countries are what make the event complete.” That is the opinion of Yelly Barrios, a reporter for Revista Paula, published by Uruguay’s El País newspaper, when she was asked about her first visit to Brazil and to Première Vision São Paulo, held in the city of São Paulo from July 10 to 11.
Yelly is part of a group of five international journalists attending the event as guests of Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program), developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). The event is also being covered by reporters from Mexico’s La Reforma, Argentina’s La Nación, and Peru’s La República.
Texbrasil also brought five buyers to the event from Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Participation in the event means getting a foot in the door for negotiations with Brazilian companies, says Iván Madueño Ramirez of the Peru Allpa company, who is in Brazil for the first time. “I’m sure that the trip will bear a lot of fruit, since we are already interested in doing business with Brazil because of the quality and design of products, which gives us an edge in the segment where we work,” he adds.
Première Vision São Paulo kicked off the F/W 2014 fashion calendar in Latin America, introducing colors, weaves, textures, prints and accessories that will define the styles on the runways for the coldest season of the coming year, which is why it has gained so much attention from industry professionals. It will also feature a trend forum run by Pascaline Wilhelm. This initiative will put exhibitor creations front and center through a detailed selection of fiber, fabric and accessory samples, introducing the highlights of each manufacturer.
