Rafael Cervone Netto is elected Abit’s president

Businessman Rafael Cervone Netto, 45, was elected President of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit) for the 2014-2016 term. Cervone Netto was at the top of the only group running and will begin his term on January 1st, 2014.

“It is with immense satisfaction that I am taking over as the chairman of an organization that is so important to the Brazilian industry. The challenges are great, just as our efforts will be in advocating, innovating and further enhancing our textile and apparel industry,” he stated.

Comprised of 50 members, serving as vice presidents on the new board are, in order, businessmen Ricardo Steinbruch (Vicunha), Vicente Donini (Marisol) and Francisco Ferraroli (Rhodia). The group elected also includes seven vice presidents, three secretaries, three treasurers and another 33 board members, in addition to the six executives that make up the audit committee. Paulo Skaf, Josue Christiano Gomes da Silva and Aguinaldo Diniz Filho are presidents emeriti of the association. The new president will also choose the members of the advisory board.

Rafael Cervone Netto is a textile engineer with a degree from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering (FEI). He is the 1st vice president of the Center of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo (Ciesp); president emeritus of Sinditextil-SP; member of the board at Abit and also the CEO of Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, maintained by Abit and Apex-Brasil).
