Renan Serrano wins the Ecoera 2016 Award with Biosoftness technology
Renan Serrano, the creator of Biosoftness technology and a fashion designer with Trendt – a member company of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, the result of a partnership between Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – was the top winner of the Ecoera 2016 Award, in the Planet category, for companies with 49 or fewer employees. The awards ceremony was held on Friday, November 25, during the 2nd edition of Casa Vogue Experience.
“This award validates that the market is looking for new practices and solutions for tasks that have gone unrevised for some time, like washing clothes,” says Renan. Biosoftness is a biological innovation that eliminates body odor when nanocapsules in the fabric are in contact with the skin’s pH. These capsules are not only biodegradable, but also prevent bacteria and fungi of all kinds from growing on the fabric, therefore contributing to preserving the clothing and towards saving water, since these items only need to be washed half as much.
The prototype for the winning project in the environmental practices category, which resulted from Renan crossing information on water scarcity in various states of Brazil and the U.S.A., was successfully tested by Trendt, following which the company partnered with Alcacuz. It is also currently being used by the Helen Rodel resortwear brand.
