See the new colors and shapes in EMI Beachwear’s Caprese collection
On August 29, EMI Beachwear, a Rio de Janeiro-based beachwear brand and member of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – is launching its new collection, entitled “Caprese” and inspired by the nature of southern Italy.
In addition to the new items being sold at EMI’s brick and mortar and online stores, there will also be a launch cocktail held in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, on the 29th.Designer Anna Luiza Vasconcellos, who is responsible for the brand, says that she fell in love with the shapes and colors of the plants and animals and used them as references in creating prints for EMI, all of which are hand-painted.
“Our new collection was inspired by a trip to Capri, where I was able to see the beauty of the Tyrrhenian Sea first-hand. I took detailed pictures of every corner of the city so that I could turn this world into drawings and watercolors,” she shares.
Anna Luiza also explained that her overriding goal with this collection was to pull heartstrings and encourage consumption of environmentally-friendly products – EMI only uses biodegradable fabrics for its products and uses scraps to make packaging.
Among new items are kimonos, bikinis, crop tops, swimsuits, dresses and midi skirts. Fruit like Sicilian lemon appear and typical flowers appear in Anna Luiza’s new prints, along with green, orange and pink stripes, which are found throughout the new collection, setting its tone.
Internationalization
Although EMI is a recent member of Texbrasil, it has already shown collections at fashion shows at the Maredamare beachwear show in Italy and at launches for Brazilian pop-up stores at the El Corte Ingles locations in Vila Nova de Gaia and Lisbon, Portugal. The label also participated in a temporary store supported by the Program in Paris.
