Social project with the support of Círculo S/A holds a fashion show at SPFW
In an unprecedented initiative, the SPFW celebrates its 25th anniversary with a totally digital edition. Among the stylists and brands that present themselves at the event is the Ponto Firme Project, which for five years has been working with inmates of the Penitentiary Desembargador Adriano Marrey, in Guarulhos (SP), to offer technical training in crochet.
The Project has the support of Círculo S/A, a participant of Texbrasil (Internationalization Program of the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency).
The line brand is responsible for supplying the material used by inmates in class, where they make tapestries, towels, hammocks, pillows, among other things.
With the entrance to the prison blocked since the beginning of the quarantine, the collection presented in this edition of SPFW was developed with the egresses that are part of the Project, Anderson Figueiredo, Anderson Joaquim and Thiago Araújo, and produced in their homes, with the support of the designer Gustavo Silvestre.
The apparel also has textile residues and reused pieces of the NK Store brand.
“Besides social sustainability, we’ll show another bias that is ‘anti-waste’. We are developing a 100% upcycling collection, with textile residues and reused pieces of the brand, mixed with crochet worked in different compositions and textures, using the threads of our already partner Círculo S/A”, says Gustavo.
