Every July, Miami becomes the international beachwear capital. This is when the Swim Week Calendar takes place, the world’s biggest beachwear week, and it is when the city hosts one of the most important international shows, the Miami Swimshow & Lingerie Show. From July 18 to 21, the event gathered over 2,500 companies, drawing 3,000 international visitors from 60 countries.

Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) supported eight Brazilian brands at the event: Blue Man, Lisa Riedt, Sauipe, Lybethras, Feriado Nacional, Guria Beachwear, Despi and Desiree Nercessian. Adriana Degreas was also in Miami at the same time, but was taking part in Cabana, a select and exclusive beachwear event. Together, the nine brands did USD 511,000 in business, with an expectation to bring in around USD 5.18 million over the next 12 months.

According to Fernando Aquila, a foreign market consultant with Feriado Nacional, the Swimshow exceeded expectations. “We made contacts and had good business results in the United States and Canada, as well as other countries such as Japan, Russia and Lebanon. This is the time for Brazilian beachwear and the international market is in full swing for brands that make the right products, with quality and precise logistics,” he says. Luciana Garcia, a designer with Lybethras, was also celebrating the results of this edition. “The public at the show was very receptive and we had various stores interested. Everyone loved the handcrafting that we did in partnership with the women from an NGO; the bikinis with crochet finishings were a hit,” she said in closing.

The next edition of the event is scheduled for July 2016.
