Texbrasil brands are featured at the F/W SPFW
The 45th edition of Sao Paulo Fashion Week took place April 21 to 26, at the Bienal Pavilion – in Ibirapuera Park. The event included fashion shows by seven members of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
Circulo
Texbrasil companies made their debut on Saturday (21), with a fashion show by Projeto Ponto Firme. Crochet done using Circulo yarns played a leading role in the show. Designer Gustavo Silvestre coordinates crafting work, which is done by inmates at the Desembargador Adriano Marrey Penitentiary, located in Guarulhos, who depict their lives in prison through clothing.
PatBo
On Monday, it was time for designer Patricia Bonaldi to show the F/W collection of the PatBo brand, entitled “Gypsetter,” a portmanteau of gypsy and jetsetter. The F/W collection is filled with velvet, layers and structured tailoring, but still features the sparkle and embroidered details the Minas Gerais brand is known for.
Borana
On Tuesday, Espirito Santo-based brand and recent Texbrasil member Borana took part in fashion week for the second time. The brand’s show took place along with four other brands during the TOP 5, project, a partnership between Sebrae and IN-MOD – National Institute of Fashion and Design, aimed at placing new companies on the Brazilian fashion circuit.
Fabiana Milazzo
That same afternoon, Minas Gerais designer Fabiana Milazzo showed her collection inspired by a trip to Peru. Fabiana’s insight for her creations was the back of a handmade Peruvian rug. Those attending the show were able to see the loose threads on the dress, bringing the zero waste concept to the runway – where even scraps are used to make the items.
A.Niemeyer
On the second to last day, A.Niemeyer showed surfwear for the Sao Paulo winter. The collection’s storytelling harkened back to the post-surfing feeling that the designers felt when they were surfing in the middle of the New York winter. The collection includes loose-fitting items and a dropped waste mixed with cozy textures and loads of plaid.
Apartamento 03
Luiz Claudio Silva, of Apartamento 03, paid homage to the women of his family, all of whom are seamstresses, during his show. The collection was notable for its loose threads, tailoring and straight cuts.
Handred
Designer Andre Namitala, discovered through the Veste Rio new talent platform, headed up the show for newcomer Handred. The brand brought all of the smooth feel of Bahia to the Sao Paulo runway. Natural fabrics, such as linen, in neutral colors and with elegant and unisex tailoring closed out the last day of the event.
