Texbrasil Brands shine at the S/S 2015 edition of Minas Trend

04/11/2014

Brands that are members of Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil) presented colorful collections with lots of sparkle to the public at the S/S 2015 edition of Minas Trend Preview (MTP) at Expominas, in Belo Horizonte, which ended this week (Apr. 8).

Minas Gerais-based designer Fabiana Milazzo showed a collection that, according to the brand, has a significant tactile appeal and is geared towards sexy or ladylike, yet contemporary women.  Work by artists and sculptors like Amanda McCavour, Cal Lane and Pedro Miranda were inspirations for the season. Making up the looks were culottes, skirts, biker shorts, pantaloons and racerback tops. Dresses had cinched waists and large skirts that are reminiscent of the ’50s. One highlight was actress Laura Neiva, who closed the fashion show leading a line of models.

Lea T was the muse for Mabel Magalhaes, which celebrated 35 years on the runway at MTP. The special collection was based on a modern and minimalist style, with lots of tailoring and embroidery and basic colors: nude, white and coral. With rigid and symmetrical aspects, the silhouette was shown in fabrics such as duchess satin, ricci jacquard, organza, lace and leather. Skirts and dresses favored a midi length that came with pleats and straight, skinny or pleated trousers, blazers and knee-length coats and shirts in organza.

Vivaz also brought a supermodel to Belo Horizonte, Victoria’s Secret angel Izabel Goulart, who lit up the brand’s Water-themed fashion show. The label went with unusual designs using glass beads, which were filled with sparkle, while bugle beads were used as a matte element. To create a wet effect, iridescent stones and transparent sequins were used, giving colors a lush touch: aquamarine, algae green, salmon, coral, lime and grey. The brand went with variations on long cuts – column or flared, while midi-length garments went from more form-fitting to looser. Items featured cutouts that were reminiscent of the world of water sports and beachwear, such as racerback cutouts and raglans, done in georgette, tulle, lace and organza.

Gig thrilled the runway with its hit knitwear. With top model Renata Kuerten walking for the brand, it showed jacquards, Bermuda shorts, floral and graphic prints and, of course, lots of hot colors, especially orange, which set the tone for the fashion show. Cuts were more modern and updated, renewing the knitwear shape, the brand’s trademark. Silhouettes switched back and forth from classic to new trends, with boxy tops, crop-tops (square and rounded), midi and short skirts in flared models with asymmetric bars and A-line shapes, with and without volume. A-line dresses were mostly short or midi length, with variations in volume. Yet long and midi lace dresses with a slight peplum at the hem were the big attraction for the season from the Minas Gerais brand. Another innovation is looser culottes. Inspiration came from the landscapes of Bora Bora, in French Polynesia.
