Texbrasil brands take part in Oi! Brasil in Japan

04/24/2015

Brazilian culture is coming to Japan in April for “Oi! Brasil 2015 – Fall in love with Sao Paulo,” an exhibit joining fashion, art, décor and cuisine at Japan’s Sogo and Seibu chain of stores, one of the largest in the country. Karin Feller, Trendt, Gabriela Sakate, Gabrielab, Cynthia Hayashi, Colcci, Lucidez and Scarf-me are the member brands of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), which will be on display alongside major names like Juliana Jabour, Lenny, Isolda, Cavalera, Uqbar, Xaa, Francesca Romana Diana, Thais Gusmao, Caio Braz, Adidas x Farm, Jatai, Rendas do Amanha and others.

This year’s edition is celebrating 120 years of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Japan and is aimed at publicizing Brazilian lifestyle and creations. The exhibit kicked off on April 14 and will visit seven of the chain’s stores. Products are being shown in a ‘pop-up store’ format at the Seibu Ikebukuro, Seibu Shibuya and Sogo Yokohama units and also featured are items illustrated by artist Filipe Jardim. In addition to creations by Brazilian artists, the Seibu Shibuya and Sogo Kobe stores are hosting a 20 year retrospective of the Campana brothers, entitled ‘Antobodies.’ The major highlight is the décor on the walls and in the windows of the chain’s flagship store – Seibu Shibuya – where work by graffiti artist Eduardo Kobra can be found. The exhibit will also be shown in the chain of stores in 2016, to commemorate the Olympics in Brazil.
