Texbrasil Managing Committee meets at Abit headquarters
On Wednesday (May 4), member companies of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), took part in a Management Committee meeting at the organization’s Sao Paulo headquarters. The goal was to debate the activities that will be proposed for the 10th Program agreement, which should take place in the 2017/2018 term.
During the morning, representatives from around 20 companies from the various segments served – textile, apparel, technical and non-woven fabrics and home fabrics – split into groups to choose priority markets for international action for the next two years.
During the afternoon, programming included a presentation by the superintendent of industrial and economic policies at Abit, Renato Jardim, who discussed the Association’s work in international negotiations to facilitate trade between Brazil and countries like Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and the U.S.A., in addition to the European Union and Asia.
Next, Abit CEO Rafael Cervone talked about the current panorama of Program results and explained the guidelines and strategic objectives for the upcoming agreement. “Our mission is to work to promote the positioning and internationalization of Brazil’s fashion industry,” he said. Isabel Tarrisse da Fontoura, the Texbrasil manager at Apex-Brasil, also spoke about the agency’s work and the activities it develops.
Finally, the companies split off into groups according to segment to debate and discuss their thoughts on the timeline of actions for the next two years. The Management Committee meets every six months with the goal of monitoring the Program’s activities.
