Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), was at three textile and apparel industry shows that took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from April 5 to 7: Emitex, Simatex and Confemaq. “We were invited by the Brazilian Embassy in Buenos Aires to take part in their space at Emitex. This was Texbrasil’s first time at the shows. We had a wide-ranging agenda of meetings, which proved to be quite positive,” says the Program’s representative, Rodolfo Yamada.

With the goal of looking for new platforms where Brazilian companies can show their products to the international market and do business, the professional talked to companies interested in Brazilian products, including various from the beachwear segment, who are looking for fabrics and textile industry supplies. The highlight was Bekaert, a producer of fabrics for mattresses found in various countries in Latin America, North America and Asia. He also met with Juan Pablo Lambertucci, a foreign trade manager with Falabella, one of the most important department stores in South America, with locations in countries such as Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia. In addition to brick and mortar stores, the retailer also has a vast online store network that includes womenswear, menswear, sportswear and accessories. He also met with representatives from the Brazil-Argentina Chamber of Commerce, strengthening relations with Argentina, which is the biggest importer of Brazilian textiles and apparel.

Emitex, Simatex and Confemaq are held simultaneously and show everything that textile and apparel industry suppliers have to offer, from yarn production to clothing. The events provide a precise panorama of proposals and new products from the market and also feature fashion shows, conferences, workshops with different themes and a space for fashion students to show their work.
