Vicunha strengthens partnership with young fashion designers
“Since signing the partnership agreement with Vicunha, we’ve decided to explore new structures and textures in our pieces. It was a great challenge for us to translate denims and indigos into our concept, which allowed us to create new shapes in new perceptions.” That was according to Deisi Witz, a designer who runs Också along with partner Igor Bastos. She was celebrating the result of yet another partnership between her brand and Vicunha, both of which are members of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
Using the development concept of two annual collections using the same theme, Igor Bastos and Deisi Witz showed the transition rounding out the process of creating their items, which brought an “unfinished” aspect to their latest collection. The brand featured tunics, trousers, parkas, jumpsuits and chemises in loose and unstructured shapes. The designers went with the fabrics Andrews and Ellie, by Vicunha, to create lightly structured items and reversible pieces. “We take enormous care in choosing the materials we use, especially the fabrics. We prioritize fabrics developed using natural fibers and always strive for comfort,” says Witz.
Another Texbrasil brand also developed a new collection in partnership with Vicunha. Karin Feller is known for her delicate and fresh collections and the designer created youthful and light items using a vibrant print. Once again, the textile manufacturer’s You denim, ideal for the most structured pieces, was the basis for a top that was given paint “splatter” effects. “I usually partner with Vicunha for nearly every collection. That’s because I’m already familiar with them and can safely trust in the quality of their fabrics,” says Karin. In addition to the chance to use fabrics from one of the world’s largest textile manufacturers, which is constantly investing in technology and providing the market with the latest launches, the designers said that the partnership allows them to try out new ideas, concepts and uses for materials. “Support by major manufacturers of creative brands is always very important, since the brands are establishing their structure and can count on a good raw material,” Karin adds.
Ocksa and Karin Feller showed their collections at the 40th edition of Casa de Criadores (House of Creators), an event held from November 7 to 11 in Sao Paulo.
