WGSN highlights the trends of international fashion weeks

1940’s:

Striking silhouettes, long skirts and a masculine touch are part of the aesthetic of the 1940’s that we saw on the runways for S/S 13/14. It is a style that encompasses all areas of product, such as jackets with structured shoulders, rounder or tailored pencil skirts with longer length, combined with jackets adjustable in the waist, belted dress with ties at the waist and tailored trousers in pantaloon style. The emphasis is on the waist, so belts are also very important in details such as fur and plush.

GRUNGE PUNK:

Many designers bet in punk influences, from Moschino to Saint Laurent and Givenchy and many other less effective names between them.
The grunge style has been in the fashion radar for a few seasons, but what we saw this time was a blast. It is mainly the combination and eccentric mix of floral prints with biker style, inspirations in Kurt Cobain such as flannel plaid shirt with leopard skins, toneless knitwear and, of course, lots of attitude.

1950’s:

We’ll continue to see some commercial successes such as bandaging dresses and skirts as major items. Besides these, we will see a bit longer skirts right below the knee, pencil skirts and bulky jackets with trapeze cut. It is interesting to add stylish knitwear and classic sporty, such as jackets in the mix, on a palette of pastel colors, animal print and fabrics with delicate touch.

LUXURIOUS SPORTS:

The luxury sports outfits were a highlight this season; the innovation is exactly in the tissue, a lot more sophisticated. Think of fur jackets, tops with horsehide, shirts with sequins and leather sports pants. Styling will keep chilled with skater dresses and sets like skirts and sweaters; by the way, the sweater is an indispensable item that has been updated with embroidery design and well marked shoulders.
