With a focus on the beachwear and lingerie segments, Mode City is hosting 20 brands from Abit’s Texbrasil and Abest’s Fashion Label Brasil Brazilian fashion internationalization projects, both supported by Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). The event takes place July 9 to 11 in Lyon, France.

The Texbrasil group is made up of the Maryssil, Biquini Brasil, Berlan, Ouseuse, Sambasoul, Sol & Energia, Despi and Sauipe companies. This is the first time at the event for Sauipe, which is hoping to establish contacts. “We are very excited for the show and we already have some meetings set up with buyers that contacted us through the event website. I hope that we are successful in Lyon and can come back next year,” says Marcia Hacker.

Denise Zanvettor, of Sambasoul, hopes that the show can open up new markets and consolidate the brand internationally: “We had one experience in Greece and now we want to expand operations to Europe, the USA and Latin America, for example. Our focus is exports, the brand was started with this purpose,” he says.

Fashion Label Brasil is made up of the Agua de Coco, Gluck Rio, Larissa Minatto, Lenny Niemeyer, Maria Sanz, MOS Beachwear, Salga, Salinas, Seaster, Sinesia Karol, Shorts.co and Triya brands. Designer Maria Sanz, known for the originality of her kimono brand, thinks she has good chances of being absorbed by the foreign market. “I know that the first participation in a show is almost never substantial; it works more for networking, but I’m optimistic. I think that I will attract buyers looking for original style, something that is always found in the prints on my kimonos,” adds the designer.

Another brand that is also a newcomer to the international market is Seaster, which sees Mode City as a chance to show the authenticity of its products. “In addition to gaining new customers in Europe, Asia and the Americas, more than anything we want to listen to customer demand and strengthen relations,” says Giovanna Corsi Seaster, a designer for the brand specializing in waterwear.
