Colcci signs a partnership with Macy’s in the United States

Brazilian brand Colcci sealed a partnership with Macy’s, a famous department store in the United States, to market its pieces on the retailer’s e-commerce. Initially, the company, which is part of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – made the Spring/Summer collection available on its website.

According to Ana Strube, export analyst at AMC Têxtil, the group to which Colcci belongs, this partnership occurred in May after a North American distributor contacted a buyer of Macy’s. The interest arose when the department store’s buyer visited Colcci’s showroom in Dallas, Texas. “It was a long negotiation to sign the partnership,” she says.

Although the pieces are initially sold on e-commerce, Ana says that the brand is studying the possibility of occupying a corner in physical stores. Even so, online participation allows Colcci to better understand its target audience in the USA.

“We were able to measure very well what the end consumer expects and wants from our products and the response is very positive. It helps to promote Colcci and gives us a great opening for expansion and penetration in the American market,” adds Ana.

International expansion

Ana believes that department stores are a great strategy to reach new audiences outside Brazil. Therefore, the brand deals with other retailers in the USA, although Ana does not say which ones.

“We are interested in increasing our footprint in the United States, as they are the largest economy in the world and have excellent consumer power,” concludes Ana.

Today, Colcci is in 15 countries, including Portugal, Spain, Chile, France, Belgium, Russia, Ecuador, Japan, Finland, Sweden, Angola, and Paraguay.
