2015 Edition of Salao Moda Brasil generates USD 220 million in business
The 2015 edition of Salao Moda Brasil, an event geared towards lingerie, beachwear and fitness brands as well as textile and supplies companies, came to an end in Sao Paulo last Tuesday (June 23). With over 130 exhibitors, the event drew around 14 thousand visitors, including merchants and the press, with around USD 220 million in business done at the show. In total, 17 member brands of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), took part in the show: Cyann, De Chelles, Delfa, Hope Lingerie, Intensify.me, Lisa Riedt, Liz, Marcyn, Mash, Meias Lupo, Recco, Rosset, Rhodia, Terlizzi, TriFil, Zanotti and 2 Rios.
The Program was responsible for bringing three international buyers to Brazil to attend the event: Raquel Alves, of Angola’s Ayre multibrand store; Pedro Fernandez, of Paraguay’s Lenceria Giselle; and Mario Oswaldo Lara, of Ecuador’s D’Christian Maryuri store. “The show was very productive; I made several contacts and intend to fulfill Angola’s demand for Brazilian-made products,” says Raquel. Pedro Fernandez, in turn, lauded the quality and variety of products. “Brazilian production is very advanced in the segments at the show,” he says.
Two international journalists also came to Brazil to cover the show: Thais Nascimento, of England’s Underlines magazine, and Argentina’s Horacio del Burgo, of Punto y Seguido. “I really liked the items by 2Rios and the Rhodia and Rosset spaces at the show. I’m positive that Brazilian beachwear is the best beachwear around. You won’t see the prints, the colors the lightness anywhere else,” says Nascimento.
In Sao Paulo, the invited journalists and buyers attended the show each day and also visited the Puket factory, on the city’s west side, to learn about the brand and its production process.
