Abit renews partnership agreement with Apex-Brasil
Abit, in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), has signed the Texbrasil Program’s 10th consecutive agreement, with the mission of promoting a better positioning and the internationalization of the Brazilian textile and fashion industry for another 24 months, covering the period from June 2017 to June 2019. The project will continue to support companies from all textile process chain links, of all sizes and from many regions of Brazil, by helping them acquire new skills and become more competitive in the global market.
The new agreement forecasts investments amounting to R$ 33.5 million, by combining the Agency’s resources and a counterpart from the sector’s companies. In order to promote sustainable development in the internationalization process, the project includes the implementation of new strategies regarding qualification, information, business, brand image and customization.
“One of the new project’s main characteristics is the work focused on strengthening our actions around attributes such as innovation and sustainability. Those actions have the strategic purpose of boosting Brazil’s competitiveness in the international market, thus generating a greater commercial flow for the sector around the world,” commented Mrs. Solete Foizer, Apex-Brasil’s Sectorial Project Manager.
For this new stage, they have selected a group of 13 target markets to be explored in the next two years, divided between priority and secondary markets. The first category includes those markets with growth potential and of great interest to companies, in which the Program will involve many actions and more significant efforts. Those markets are: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the United States, Mexico, Peru and Portugal. The secondary markets, on their turn, will be under the project’s radar because they concentrate important events in the sector, are an entry door to neighboring countries, and offer opportunities to explore specific niches. These are: Germany, United Arab Emirates, France, Japan, Paraguay and the United Kingdom.
“Texbrasil has promoted the internationalization of Brazilian companies, and throughout these years of partnership with Apex-Brasil, the Program has significantly contributed to increase competitiveness in the sector. In 2016, companies taking part in the project contributed with 64.7% of Brazilian exports by the NCM’s supported by the Program,” highlighted Mr. Fernando Pimentel, Abit’s Chairman.
“In order to continue to achieve such remarking results, Texbrasil will keep working on multidisciplinary actions to foster internationalization and a higher performance of Brazilian companies“, complemented Mr. Rafael Cervone, the Texbrasil Program’s Executive Director.
Partnership
The Texbrasil Program was created in the year 2000 with the purpose of organizing Brazilian companies in order to offer textile and apparel products in the international market. The Program is one of the oldest promoted by the agency and throughout the 16 years of partnership between Apex-Brasil and Abit nine partnership agreements have already been signed. During that time almost 6 thousand actions have been undertaken, which have benefited around 1500 companies from the textile and apparel sector. They have exported US$ 4 billion in textile, clothing and household linen products. A total of 34.6 thousand jobs have been generated in Brazil due to those exports.
