Adriana Degreas launches resort collection inspired by the work of Margaret Mee

08/22/2019

Fashion designer Adriana Degreas is presenting her S/S 2020 resortwear collection. The swimwear brand is a 14-year member of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – held through a partnership between Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association).

The Brazilian designer took inspiration in creating items from botanical paintings by Britain’s Margaret Mee. The artist was known for painting illustrated works of Amazonian plants. In the Bloom collection, Brazilian orchids share space with animal prints in colors like blue and pink.

According to Tauane Modes, who is responsible for the company’s export area, dresses, pantaloons, tops and skirts by Degreas were created for strong and inspiring women from around the world. The new collection is on sale at 25 international points of sale, including boutiques and major online retailers such as Browns, Bloomingdales, Net-a-Porter and Revolve.

The brand’s target markets are currently the United Kingdom, France, the Arab Emirates and the United States. Since 2018, the company has executed an internationalization strategy focused on collaborations with renowned international brands. The first partnership was with England’s Charlotte Olympia, resulting in a color-filled collection that received coverage by the international media. While in March of this year, the brand partnered with California-based accessories brand Cult Gaia.

According to the designer, capsule collections were done with brands that have synergy with Degreas, projecting the brand in the foreign market. “We always look to partner with designers that have a strong DNA, so collections come in an interesting mix,” Adriana explains.
