Brazilian labels do USD 940,000 in business at Veste Rio

From October 19 to 22, Rio de Janeiro hosted the second edition of Veste Rio, an event gathering major names in Brazilian fashion at its business show and outlet, while also promoting talks, workshops and shows in one of the most charming settings in the city: the new Gloria Marina. At the invitation of Texbrasil – the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, the result of a partnership between Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – buyers from Portugal, Japan and Greece did USD 940,000 in business with Brazilian brands, with sales of USD 1 million expected over the next 12 months.

Buyers Ana Teresa Brito and Gloria Brito, of the Fio d’Água store (Portugal); Ilias Kavvagias, of the Rusty store (Greece); and Satoh Yoshiharu and Akemi Oyanagi, of the Fruits de Mer store (Japan) saw launches from 16 Texbrasil brands that took part in the event: Andrea Marques, Apartamento 03, CCM, Cholet, Fabula, FARM, Liziane Richter, Lucas Magalhaes, Lucidez, Maria Filó, Maria Pavan, PatBo, Patricia Bonaldi, Tigresse, Totem and Victor Dzenk. In addition, the group visited the Blue Man and FARM showrooms, brands that reflect the Rio de Janeiro lifestyle and that also took part in the program.

For Gloria Brito, of Portugal, participating in Veste Rio was a great experience; the show was well organized and included major names in Brazilian fashion. “We already work with the Blue Man, Cantao and Lenny brands in our portfolio and we are starting negotiations with FARM, Totem and Cholet, in an effort to bring them to Portugal for the first time, in our stores,” she says. While for buyer Ilias, the trip provided an up-close look at Brazilian fashion and more information about the Brazilian lifestyle, allowing him to introduce and sell Brazilian brands in Greece with more authority. “I was delighted by the welcoming treatment of Brazilians, which is why I intend to take some of this essence back to my country,” he said.
