From July 23 to 27, the MAC (Museum of Contemporary Art at the University of Sao Paulo) in Sao Paulo hosted Casa de Criadores (House of Creators), a fashion week focused on original designers and up-and-coming talent. The event is now in its 43rd edition, with 25 fashion shows in the line-up, with names such as Eloisa Faria and Weider Silveiro. Three member brands of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – took part in the program: Ocksa, Vicunha and Rhodia. Check out the repercussions from the fashion shows below:

Ocksa

On the first day of the event, the brand showed its genderless collection to visitors and the press. Igor Bastos, who is now the sole head of the creative team, went with a total black look, with performances by model and dancer Loic set to music by the Teto Preto group. On the runway, layered pieces dressed bodies of every size, with experimental makeup by Guilherme Casagrande. The models’ smoky black eyes were one highlight, in addition to hand painted canvas bags, produced through a partnership between Ocksa and Spanish brand A.Gustems.

Vicunha Textil

Also held on day one, during the fashion show featuring the I Am Cotton movement, designer Alex Kazuo dressed model Thairine Garcia in an exclusive look made of 100% Vicunha Textil cotton twill. The long black strapless dress was one of the highlights of the evening.

Rhodia

While the Rhodia show, a surprise with the goal of showing the company’s brand new yarns to the public, brought the Athleisure style and a mix of materials to the MAC. Styling was done by Leandro Benites, with black and neon items made using Amni® and Emana® Polyamide yarns. Clothing made with these yarns decomposes in less than three years when properly disposed of in landfills and they have properties connected to well-being, such as long infrared wave technology, which converts body heat into benefits for skincare and sports performance.

The event, which happens twice a year, is supported by Abit.
