From November 8 to 11, four member companies of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – held through a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – took part in Expotextil Peru 2018, in Lima.

The Santa Constancia Tecelagem, Dalila Textil, Audaces and Creora companies, held by North Korea’s Hyosung group, showed their latest products and did USD 830,000 in business. Sales expectations for the next 12 months are also excellent and are in excess of USD 2.5 million. In addition to good sales figures, the companies also made 245 new contacts during the event.

One decade ago, Expotextil Peru drive the country’s textile industry, drawing 26,000 visitors on average over recent years. According to Lilian Kaddissi, Executive Manager at Texbrasil, the event is a great opportunity to foster business in the country, whose economy is very strong right now, in the textile sector as well as in the apparel and home fabrics sectors.

“The results were excellent. The Peruvian market is full of possibilities and the forecasts are for growth, especially in the apparel consumption segment, and is expected to increase by 15% by 2021,” Lilian explains.

She also says that the support provided for brands to take part in the event is strategic. “Attendance at Expotextil is reflected in Program company numbers. This year, for instance, our underwear companies’ exports to the country were up by 16.9%. The goal is to continue along this path and to maintain these great results,” she says in closing.
