Karsten launches towel with antibacterial technology

07/16/2020

The household linen brand Karsten launched a new line of towels with antibacterial technology. The Hera collection allows eliminating bacteria, avoiding mold, and bad smell.

The brand is a participant of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (The Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – and one of the major Brazilian exporters of household linen, based in Blumenau, in the south of the country.

The company’s solution is made of 100% cotton with a finish that wraps the fibers with antimicrobial protection, which eliminates 99.9% of bacteria. The guarantee of effectiveness of the product’s functionality is up to 70 home washes.

The manager of the Karsten Innovation Center, Leoni Pasol, explains that the technology already existed, but had not been applied in one line: “In 2006 we started working with antimicrobial products based on silver Ions. Since then, we have all the know-how to produce parts of this standard, but we still didn’t have the product in line,” he comments.

The Hera line comes in four colors: white, gray, beige and pink, and is now available for sale in physical and virtual stores.
