Accessories that reuse fabric leftovers
Matilda, a headwear brand, has launched its new collection in collaboration with women’s fashion brand ALUF. These are pieces that recycle production scraps from the “Nostalgia” winter collection and generate new value for fabric scraps to avoid wasting materials. As supporters of the slow fashion movement, the brands combined their values and expertise to develop the collection.
Matilda’s apparel are sold overseas, and the company is part of the Texbrasil Program (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency),it has also attended Coterie NY sponsored by this program.
The company has 100% handmade production, based on traditional haute millinery techniques. The pieces in the new collection were made in an exclusive jacquard with a floral pattern with a vintage feel, following an oversized style. “We were inspired by the feeling of confidence that a good headgear can provide,” explained Dani Rodrigues, one of the founders of Matilda.
According to her, all profit from sales will revert to the Association of Artists and Producers of Downtown São Paulo (ASP), an organization that develops art and education projects in Brazil and abroad, with children and adolescents in socially vulnerable situations. . ASP brings young people closer to artistic languages, in order to encourage them to create ways to express their desires for the world and create social awareness about themselves, their rights and duties.
