On August 16, Canatiba Denim Industry held a talk on Winter 2017 trends for guests and the brand’s customers at its showroom in Sao Paulo (SP). The panel was hosted by Bia Aidar, introducing the main trends for the season and how they can be applied to the Brazilian market and the jeanswear niche. Also during the event, the company – which is a member of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) – discussed its new partnership with Invista, facilitating the apparel production process.

With the new partnership, tags are used on all of the denim manufacturer’s fabrics that contain Lycra fibers, which now leave the factory with certification information stating that the product has Invista technology. Fabio Covolan, the director of Canatiba, explains the benefits of the strategy. “This measure was implemented to streamline the work of our customers, who can now include this tag. Before, they had to receive and do a pilot run on the piece, sending it in for approval and later including the tag,” he says.

Three guiding groups are notable among the trends introduced by Bia Aidar: military, sporty and decorated. In the military style, weights are essential in manufacture of shirts, which come in sweat shirt, shaket and bomber cuts. In the sporty style, items come in exaggerated sizes, or “oversized,” in addition to jumpsuits and shirt dresses or polo dresses. Lastly, decorated clothing has more of a seventies feel, with florals and an appreciation for embroidery, asymmetrical cuts and jeans with notable washes.
