01/13/2014

A group of 16 Brazilian companies will be at the 26th edition of Colombiatex, one of the most important textile trade shows in the world, which is being held from January 21 to 23, in Medellin. To show their top trends, Audaces, Canatiba, Cataguases, Cedro, Covolan, Delfa, Doptex, Farbe, PH Fit, Rhodia, Rosset, Santanense, Tavex, Vicunha, Werner and Zanotti will be in the country with the support of Texbrasil(Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil).

Among innovations being shown by the Brazilian companies are the Max Skinny Hi-Comfort fabrics developed by the Canatiba company to provide greater comfort and convenience, along with Rhodia’s Emana Denim line, which uses bioactive crystals in jeans to combat cellulite. Another highlight is Tavex, which is introducing its Denim Therapy fabrics, with cosmetics properties that improve the look of skin, while Vicunha is bringing the Eco-D line to the market, with 100% biodegradable polyester fabrics developed using recycled PET bottles.

To underscore the sophistication of Brazilian fashion, Gabriela Sakate and Gralias will hold a fashion show at this edition. With a style influenced by Minimalism, up and coming designer Gabriela Sakate, considered one of the “5 hot new designers to watch” by the UK edition of Marie Claire magazine, will bring her Holyday Collection inspired by menswear tailoring made for women to Colombia. In addition, the duo behind Gralias, Julia Guglielmetti and Grazi Cavalcanti, will tell the story of denim in Brazil with their Modernist Denim collection. Both are part of the Texbrasil talent incubator: BtoBe (developed in partnership with Casa de Criadores).

At its last edition in January 2013, over 32,000 visitors and nearly 1,700 buyers attended Colombiatex, coming from countries such as Germany, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Arab Emirates, Spain, the United States, Finland, France, England, Italy, Uruguay and Venezuela. Companies taking part in the Program that attended that edition saw a balance of more than US$ 152 million in expected business.
