With the growing Brazilian community living in Australia in mind and in celebration of a 70 year long diplomatic relationship between both countries, Brazil month will be commemorated in Sydney in September 2015. The month will include various events being organized by the Brazilian government in partnership with the Australia Brazil Business Council (AuBrBC), celebrating the date and promoting Brazilian culture and creations.

The first event is Brazil at the Harbour, gathering several companies on September 8 for a cocktail at the city’s most important work of architecture, the Sydney Opera House. Guests will be able to try typical Brazilian food and drinks at the event and will take in a show by Bossa Nova singer Juliana Areias.

The second event is Brazil in the City, a luncheon that will take place on September 9, gathering 150 executives at the Shangri-la Hotel to attend a panel on “The Strategic Brazil-Australia Partnership in the 21st Century: its business dimension,” moderated by Ronaldo Veirano, of Veirano Advogados, with panel members Brent Wastwood, of JBS Austrália; Mark Dunnachie, of Embraer Asia-Pacific; Elizabeth O’Leary, of Branco Macquarie; and Isar Mazer, of Seek.

On the schedule immediately following the luncheon is the Australia-Brazil Business Roundtables, a series of roundtables discussing what are considered potential areas for both countries: tourism, fashion, education, training, franchising, creative services, information technology, start-ups, aerospace, defense, clean energy, generic medications, tropical medicine, agribusiness, logistics, the wholesale market and tropical products.

The three events are part of a strategy to grow recognition of Brazil and its brands, companies and products in Australia, while also attracting direct investments, tourism and trade of goods and services between the countries. In this context, the Australia Brazil Business Council, with the support of the Brazilian government, is carrying out a business mission from September 7 to 11 for representatives of Brazil’s private sector interested in exploring Sydney’s economic and trade potential. Companies interested in taking part in the mission should send an e-mail to the Trade Promotion Department at the Ministry of Foreign Relations (doc@itamaraty.gov.br), the Consulate-General of Brazil in Sydney (secom.sydney@itamaraty.gov.br) and the Australia Brazil Business Council (info@aurbrbc.org.br).

Australia is one of the target markets of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) for the next two years. Thirteen brands currently export to the country: Aua, Rosset, Lucidez, Liz, Mar Egeu, Bia Brazil, Bro Fitwear, Savyon, TriFil, Opa Locka, Marissyl, Cataguases and Buddemeyer.
