Minas Gerais brand GIG Couture has opened a concept store in the Jardim Paulista district of São Paulo. The shop from the brand, a member of Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), was designed by Carolina Flicker and inspired by Scandinavian architecture, with burnt cement, marble and rose and pink walls.

According to Gina Guerra, one of the owners of GIG, the desire to have a store of this size had always been a dream. “We believed that the brand could say more and say it in different ways, beyond fashion, and the public will find our DNA at this store,” she says.

The public will also find GIG’s latest endeavor at the new two-storey shop, located on the swanky Rua Peixoto Gomide: the home decor line.

The collection was made in partnership Carolina. Items include ottomans, lighting fixtures, pillows and curtains. The latter two items were made with fabrics made with golden lurex yarn, produced using the brand’s technology at its factory in Belo Horizonte.

According to Gina, the decor line fulfills the role of expanding the brand’s horizons into the decor segment. “We are very happy that now people can see our unique fabrics in tapestries. These are exclusive, quality products with a vintage feel, which is what we are all about.”

And she adds that: “my Italian decorator’s soul is in these items, and now, it can also be in my customers’ homes.”

This is the first step in the brand’s plan to partner with designers from various segments. There are also plans to export these collections.
