Opinion-makers Tatiana Vanegas, with Colombia’s Carrusel magazine; Victoria Lescano, with Argentine website Infobae, were in Sao Paulo from October 23 to 26 to learn about the biggest Brazilian brands. The agenda organized by Texbrasil (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) – carried out through a partnership between Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) – included fashion shows at the 46th edition of Sao Paulo Fashion Week and visits to Fabiana Milazzo, Rosset, Gig Couture and Adriana Degreas.

With the theme of “Tran[sp]osition,” Sao Paulo Fashion Week was held for the first time at an industrial warehouse in Vila Leopoldina, on the city’s west side. In the line-up are shows by PatBo, Handred, Borana, Apartamento 03 and Amir Slama. According to Argentine journalist Victoria Lescano, the profile of Brazilian fashion has changed, yet its essence is still the same. “I see a humanistic and critical vision on the runway. Some large companies are still in the line-up, but there is room for new cultural projects to emerge,” says Lescano, a specialist who has authored books on Brazilian fashion.

Lilian Kadissi, Executive Manager of Texbrasil, explains that the goal of the agenda is to provide rich and diverse experience: “We work during the year to bring in opinion-makers to see the various aspects of Brazilian fashion. It is a very big challenge, since our industry is quite large. That is why we do press trips to the nation’s main events, always with large visit agendas to show our authenticity,” she says in closing.
