Julia Guglielmetti and Grazi Cavalcanti win the 5th edition of Ponto Zero

12/13/2012

The representatives of Santa Marcelina College, Julia Guglielmetti and Grazi Cavalcanti, won last night (12/12) the 5th edition of the Ponto Zero competition – a project made by Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program), developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), by Casa de Criadores (House of Creators) and by Mercado Mundo Mix, and with the support of Sinditextil – which aims to discover new design and fashion artists. The fashion shows closed the A/W 2013 season of Casa de Criadores.

The girls competed with eight other finalists: Fernanda Quilici (Anhembi Morumbi), Denise Emy and Fernanda Sousa (USP), Daniela Passatuto and Camila Freire (Senac), Hanna Lucatelli (IED), Natalia Seim e Emanoel Silva (Belas Artes) of colleges from Sao Paulo, Leonardo da Silva, Juliana de Carvalho and Ianara Sousa (Estacio de Sa) and Thaissa Becho (Senai– CETIQT), from Rio de Janeiro.  One of the judges was the English journalist Stefan Siegel of the website Not Just a Label, who, in his first time in Brazil at the invitation ofTexbrasil, learned more about the Brazilian fashion: “Definitely, Brazil is much more than bikinis and caipirinhas. The stylists that we saw tonight are an evidence of the cultural transformation and production of talent in the country, creating a Brazilian identity in design.”

To win the contest, the duo of stylists of Gralias developed a theme of reference for the fashion show, where a character was created with a fictional story about the end of his life. The short story “¿Y El Toro?”, by Julio Thomas, speaks about the life of a famous Spanish bullfighter. Then came the idea of the constant use of horns in pieces of the collection, as fashion references, creating volume and a new silhouette, especially emphasizing the side of the outfits. Among the highlights, organic forms of moulage and knitting are opposed to the drier and straight shapes; lengths, departing from mini to maxi, still bring the proposal of pieces with the back shorter than the front, showing details of the lingerie. In rustic and heavy materials, braiding with 100% natural merino wool.

Among the prizes, the winners comprise the official lineup of Casa de Criadores and participate in an international event, not yet disclosed. Other editions of the project were responsible for revealing to the market stylists Karin Feller, Cynthia Hayashi, Silvia Ferraz, Lucas Devitte and Isadora Zendron.
