On the last 27, the winners of the most important Brazilian design awards, IDEA/Brasil were announced. Each of them presented works that add elements of sustainability and technology to fashion.

The designers Aluiso Zumbioli and Glicinia Setenareski won the silver medal in the Textile category. For ten years, they have conducted an innovative research in partnership with the Casulo Feliz, which motivates the silk production manually, using cocoons discarded by major industries. The work resulted in the creation of a softer fabric, comfortable and sustainable, a new alternative to the traditional jeans; the Silk Jeans. The fiber is made from a blend of 50% silk, 25% cotton and 25% of dyed PET bottles in the indigo color. The use of plastic material gives a distinctive glow to the models, in addition to promoting the recycling within the fashion industry.

In the category Jewelry, the Studio Filo de Luxo and designer Mary Lima received the silver medal. The creation of Nest necklace innovates the traditional jewelry, mixing different materials. The piece is composed of precious Grenade stones among raw cotton yarns covered by fabric and embroidery cordonnet thread. To complete the piece, a silver brooch.

With an application of led lights on clothes, the young fashion designer Maria Beatriz Guido Micai won the category Students with the presentation of her final paper in college. The project did a remake on the technological clothes, using LED lights to create pieces that blend fashion, design, advanced technology and engineering. The differential of the piece is the ability to adapt materials which normally are not used in the fashion industry. Flexible strips, acrylic, fiber optics and led tubes gained form and style.
