Registration open for the 7th Inclusive Fashion Contest
Registration is open for the 7th Inclusive Fashion Contest (Concurso de Moda Inclusiva®), an initiative of the State Secretariat for Rights for the Disabled, aimed at fostering and sharing innovative solutions to contribute to the well-being and quality of life of people with disabilities. Technical school and university students, those enrolled in non-accredited schools, and professionals in the fashion area in every country are eligible to enroll at the website.
Twenty finalists will be awarded with denims and serges by Vicunha to craft items for the final fashion show, to be held in November in the city of Sao Paulo. The first, second and third place winners will receive a Singer sewing machine and the winner will be able to intern for one month at Vicunha, a traditional Brazilian weaving company and member of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
There are around 45 million people with some sort of disability living in Brazil today. In the state of Sao Paulo alone, there are 9 million people with disabilities. With a huge demand for products and services to serve this segment and initiatives that call the media’s and professionals’ attention to this public, they represent a huge opportunity for anyone that wants to invest in a niche that is still quite unexplored.
