Texbrasil companies celebrate USD 6.6 million in sales at Colombiatex
Over 13,000 visitors gathered from January 27 to 29 in Medellin during the 27th edition of Colombiatex. Having generated USD 306 million in business opportunities, 15% more than in 2014, and with a total of 10,000 buyers from 51 countries, the event lived up to its prominent position in a ranking by UFI – the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. “The tradeshow is strategic to the Latin American market, since it gathers various links in the chain, such as supplies, machinery and accessories. That is why it opens lots of chances for contacts and sees millions in business done,” says the Superintendent Director of Abit, Fernando Pimentel.
Texbrasil, the Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), supported 14 companies that attended the show, which together closed over USD 6.6 million in business, with an expected USD 19.4 million expected over the next 12 months:
Britannia, Canatiba, Cataguases, Cedro, Covolan, Farbe, Delfa, Digitale Textil, Expor Manequins, Rosset, Santanense, Tavex, Vicunha and Zanotti.
The Texbrasil space at the show also included a special fashion show by the Der Metropol label, by Mario Francisco, a designer who is a member of the BtoBe (Brazilians to Be) talent incubator and who crafted all of the looks using exhibitor materials. “The collection sought to explore Brazilian fabrics to their fullest extent, to show the versatility they each have.Among the creations, we have several examples of innovation, such as a gown made out of denim that looks like leather, providing for an unusual garment, or a dress shirt fabric used to make jackets,” says the designer about the details of the collection.
This was the first time that Digitale Textil took part and the company’s spokesperson, Mario Schick, says that it surpassed their sales expectations and they are already negotiating with a potential representative in Colombia. “We will surely be back at future editions,” he guarantees. Allan dos Anjos, export manager for Covolan, was also thrilled about the results: “It was a very interesting show. We were visited by top clients from Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. With a larger space, we had greater visibility,” he says, reinforcing the importance of the Latin American market as a target for exports.
The next Colombiatex will take place from January 26 to 28, 2016.
