Texbrasil company wins innovation award
Moovexx, a member brand of Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program, a Program developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil), was the winner of the Idea Brasil Innovation Award 2013, in the textile category. The company created a new jeans waistband technology, using elastic to fit the garment to the body without compromising the garment’s design. Moovexx items made using the award-winning technology are on display at Conjunto Nacional, on Avenida Paulista – SP, until September 8; after that, they will be moved to the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, where they will be exhibited until January 2014.
This innovation was developed by fashion designer Renata Iwamizu, who at just 30 years old already has substantial experience with menswear. The elastic follows the body’s movement, leaving no uncomfortable feeling, and it can expand up to 6 cm. In addition to trousers, belts can be found using the same system, shaping to the flexibility of the waist. “I always try to demystify the consumer’s needs when I am creating; Moovexx is the achievement of this desire,” says Iwamizu.
The award is the Brazilian version of the US-based Idea Awards and is quite well-known for recognizing talent in Brazilian design. Brazil was the only country chosen and authorized to promote this award outside of the United States. The awards ceremony will take place in September.
