Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program), developed by Abit in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) has released a report with the results of the Program in 2012. Currently, the program serves 259 domestic companies, helping their internationalization activities; from this total, 28 have joined this year.

Among them, 120 exporters participated in 23 international trade shows organized by the Program, occupying 2633m² and totalizing approximately USD 7.5 million in business generated, in addition to receiving over 4,848 visitors in the Brazilian stands. As to Projeto Comprador (Buyer Project), it brought 88 guests to 19 national trade shows, benefiting more than 150 companies. The turnover exceeds USD 8.9 million. Meanwhile, the Texbrasil Guide, which has more than 300,000 hits per month, now adds up 38,998 registered companies, with 20,605 domestic and 18,393 international.

In the Competitive Intelligence area, the Program was a three-time champion of the Apex-Brasil Prize, competing with the other entities that maintain projects with Apex-Brasil. The area made 216 customized services to the participants of the Program and also created new products: Learning to Export, Exporter Guide, New Panorama and Texbrasil Insights. Otherwise, 12 bulletins and 10 reports of Texbrasil Analysis were produced.

The Image Project, with the goal of spreading Brazilian fashion abroad, intensified its activity on social networks and launched the Brazilian Fashion Blog, with posts in English only, aiming to reach international audiences.  Additionally, it was responsible for bringing 108 international journalists to monitor and participate in 15 Press Trips. The activities generated around USD 10 million in spontaneous media.

In 2012, the Program also structured business development activities, possessing skills in various areas.

Texbrasil created two new nuclei of work: Innovation and Sustainability, Fashion and Design. Among the activities, the first one was responsible for expanding the scope of Selo Qual (Certification of Quality and Sustainability of the Fashion and Textile Industry), who previously served only the segment of clothes for work and now certifies other links in the chain. As to the second one, the big news was the creation of Texbrasil Design, the Premium Brand Group that leads the export of the Brazilian fashion identity.

The Program also developed various business development activities, covering topics such as foreign trade, competitive intelligence and innovation. “The goal for 2013 is to further intensify the work, especially the new areas of sustainability, innovation, fashion and design. We will also open more business development programs in order to enable companies to be trained on the most relevant issues of our industry”, explains Rafael Cervone, executive director of Texbrasil.
