Young talents from Texbrasil show S/S 2015 collections at Casa de Criadores

06/09/2014

The S/S 2015 edition of Casa de Criadores (House of Creators) ended last Friday (June 6), with prominent shows by Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, developed by Abit and Apex-Brasil) member brands that are part of the BtoBe (Brazilians to Be) young talent incubator, maintained in partnership with the event. Gralias and Karin Feller held their fashion shows on the first day of the event (June 4).

Karin was the first to show her trends, inspired by one of Sao Paulo’s main tourist spots: Mercado Municipal. Her collection included colorful prints with elements of leaves, flowers and peppers. Necklaces, earrings and belt pendants made using spice jars were a highlight. Looks included jumpsuits and rompers, all fitted at the waist by thin belts.

Designers Julia Guglielmetti and Grazi Cavalcanti, the women behind Gralias, made references to the Bixiga district of Sao Paulo. Their color portfolio used grey as the base for strong tones like orange, pink and yellow. The label also revisited some classics, with modern reinterpretations of prints like houndstooth, plaid, polka-dots and stripes. The highlight of the show was the oversized bags in texturized and printed plastic.

On the second day of shows, the last label chosen to enter the incubator, the Nosotros brand, by Nathan de Souza in partnership with Roberto Hideo, showed a vanguard collection inspired by Cuba and painter Rene Portocarrero. References to the artist’s work can be seen in the embroidery and ruffles used on skirts, tops and dresses. Shapes are quite light and flowing and are all very fresh, with the look of the Brazilian summer. The color portfolio includes white, blue, black and pink. Materials used are silk muslin, silk crepe and satin twill, in partnership with the Vicunha textile company, which is also a Texbrasil member.

On the last day of the event, minimalist label Trendt showed a collection that was faithful to its style of layered knitwear. The brand showed more elaborate items on top of looks, asymmetrical dresses with cutouts and cuts, vests, and tunics with long skirts and geometric prints. The high point of the day was the Novos Olhares (New Looks) fashion show, where ten designers, including Karin Feller and Renan Serrano, developed creations shown by the visually impaired. The goal is to promote a debate on how fashion can be inclusive and even more democratic.
