Brazilian companies participate in Innovation Mission to the United States
From December 11 to 15, a group of 14 companies is taking part in an Innovation Mission focused on Industry 4.0 in the United States. The schedule for representatives from Altenburg, Audaces, Coteminas, Elastan, Generalle, ITM, Karsten, Malwee, Paramount, RVB Malhas, Soutex, Texion, Villa Textil and Irmaos Perfeito will pass through Boston, Raleigh and Atlanta and includes visits to some of the world’s top educational institutes and latest generation textile and apparel labs. The initiative is being held by Texbrasil, the result of a partnership between Abit and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
Among the main places being visited are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the College of Textiles at the North Carolina State University, sewing automation company Softwear and the Georgia Institute of Technology. According to Karsten’s Marcio Bertoldi, CFO, and Leoni Pasold, Innovation Manager, this mission is strategically important to helping to identify the world’s most innovative technologies. “The mission is a time to pay attention to what is new, since it provides time for learning where professionals can see the most advanced technologies,” they say.
Pedro Bastos, Vice President at Coteminas, believes that the mission will allow for contact with the world’s top level organizations in terms of innovation and disruptive techniques, as well as with totally automated production processes. “This will let the company imagine how what we see can be extended to the many activities in our production cycle and other activities,” he says. Amilcar Nagel, Industrial Director at the Malwee Group, is another participant in the initiative. He hopes to be able to compare what his company is doing today with what is new in the market, in order to direct his team towards what lies ahead. “I hope to acquire knowledge to challenge our team and think outside the box, not setting limits on what can be done,” he says in conclusion.
