Denim agenda: manufacturers launch fabrics for S/S 2018
It’s there at work, on casual occasions, during afternoon outings and even at parties, jeanswear is a definitive part of Brazilians’ lives. The county produced 362.6 million items in 2014, an amount that results in per capita production of 1.8 denim garments per year, according to data from Abit/IEMI. To feed this consumption, denim manufacturers have to always be working at full steam and launching fabrics with trends that can meet the demand of the over 6,500 apparel factories spread across the nation.
In general, major denim manufacturers have two launches per year, meeting the S/S and F/W demands. However, some products are shown outside of this calendar, such as collection supplements. With this in mind, some of the biggest companies in the segment are promoting events during the month of November to show the products they are betting on for S/S 2018. There will be talks on trends, business, inspirations and the main features of items launched.
See the program below for some of the companies that are members of Texbrasil, the Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program, the result of a partnership between Abit and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
In a partnership between Shopping Mega Polo Moda, Canatiba Denim Industry, Tecnoblu, Hi-Tech Química & Tecnologia, Audaces and Guia Jeanswear, “Denim Week” will be held, with programming split between the “Denim Lab” and “Denim.Business.” There will be three days of talks on the Brazilian textile and apparel industry, laundry trends and business.

Sensory experiences in combination with “do-it-yourself” are central themes in the launch of the “Ecstasy” collection, which promises a larger color portfolio. In addition, Cedro is investing in “Splash” serge, with a water-repellant finish. Testing will be done during the event to show how the fabric works. Visitors will also be able to take part in a customization workshop for a traditional denim bag. Each person will be able to pick from three types of handles, apply patches and paint their bag with a stencil.

From November 9 to 11, Vicunha is opening the doors of its showroom to show its latest for S/S 2018 to guests, with talks on trends for apparel items and jeans washes.

The weaving company is promoting the launch of the S/S 2017/2018 collection at its showroom in Sao Paulo and should show guests 11 new lightweight and flexible items. The lookbook for the line is already being prepared and contains references to the ’90s with lighter washes.
